Beating the Heat

This past week has had record breaking temperatures with highs reaching the low 90's in our small little mountain town. FYI 90 is REALLY HOT in WA! We're melting out here!

Typically I can't stand air conditioning, but days like the past few have me singing hallelujah to our window mount air conditioners, especially when it means that little man can actually sleep through a nap without awaking prematurely, drenched and completely irritable.

We have spent our sizzling afternoons tucked away in the privacy of our back yard, and Collin couldn't be happier running around in his birthday suit, playing with the hose, jumping in and out of his pool, and filling his sand box full of water.  As for me, I spend my time making sure he isn't ingesting handfuls of sand from his sand box, prevent him from eating concrete when spur of the moment he decides to climb out of his pool, soaking wet, and runs after Tucker with the hose, or decides to chase a bug that happens to be passing by.  I keep him from ripping out the flowers from their pots, hiding under the grill and attempting to ignite it (which trust me can be extremely dangerous...I recently seared off my left eyebrow and my entire eyelashes, not one of my better moments.),  trying to run through the screen door, and anything else destructive a toddler knows how to do. But we love our afternoons of play, and even in the midst of being stifling hot we love our wonderful friend BOB, the sun.
